Staying safe

Your safety is our top priority when you’re out and about in town. Here are all the ways we’re committing to keeping you safe and who you can turn to if you need help:

Door and venue staff

All door staff at each venue are industry accredited and are hired and trained by the individual venue themselves, not by ¸Û²Ê¿ª½± or York Parties. They, like us, are there to look after you on your night out. If you want to notify us of an issue during one of our club nights, please ask a member of venue staff to contact the ¸Û²Ê¿ª½± Liaison (Geoff Ward).

NightSafe

Also known as ‘The Angels in the Orange Coats’, NightSafe is a student-run volunteering group dedicated to looking after you on nights out. NightSafe provides immediate support and signposting to vulnerable students on each ¸Û²Ê¿ª½± club night, as well as various special events throughout the year. NightSafe volunteers work in groups of three and patrol the city centre, working with venue managers, security staff and the emergency services. Each group is made up of one Team Leader and two ordinary volunteers who wear hi-vis uniforms and are equipped with CCTV and radio for maximum security. If your friend is in a bad way, or if you’ve lost your friends, find a NightSafe volunteer who will be able to help.

Why did ¸Û²Ê¿ª½± decide to partner with York Parties?

Every few years or so we go through a tender process where any student club night promoter or venue can pitch to our Sabbatical Officers to become our official partner for club nights. Last year, the Sabbatical Officers not only ran the tender process they also conducted consultations with various student groups, such as college Chairs and Presidents, beforehand to gather more information on what students actually wanted from our new provider.

The Sabbatical Officers decided to partner with York Parties for the next two years due to their wealth of experience and expertise in this field, as well as their commitment to ensuring student safety and wellbeing. York Parties pitched an offer than went beyond just nightclubs - they showed a genuine and thoughtful interest in student life as a whole at York, and how they could continue to support it - both financially and through how they are operating these four brilliant student club nights.
